One of the top proteges of Boardman Robinson, Lewis "Lew" Tilley was both a student and, eventually, instructor at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center.  He studied his craft to perfection with Jean Charlot prior to becoming a well-known painter, water-colorist, and print-maker.  He won the purchase prize at the inaugural Canon City Blossom Festival, only to return as a judge for its 50th anniversary.
