Charles Craig was Colorado’s first trained resident artist.  He lived in Colorado Springs for more than fifty years, where he refined his craft and developed a national reputation.  Although a fire at the Antler’s Hotel in 1895 destroyed many of his works, those that survived remain cherished and coveted by collectors.  He has become best known for his portrayal of the Ute Indians, with whom he lived for four years.
